When you look at my graphic work, especially my newer stuff, it all seems to be somewhat the same style for the most part. But I like to think that the work that I create is far different than any other graphic artist. I don't mean to say it's better, just different. There are some amazing artists out there of which I could never compare to. I have to say that I am proud of the work I have produced and am also proud to display it so that you can view my progress. With every site I do I feel like I learn more and more techniques that improve my ending result and streamline the process of making it. By streamline, I mean creating the work more quickly and once it is created it is much more flexible for changes.
Mad Ant Design: This was the latest incarnation of my site for Mad Ant Design. There is an older version that was based on a site by Anders Qvicker but this newer version was quite a bit different in the way it was designed. I think it was a little too complicated in it's setup for a website but it does show some excellent graphic work and was a great step forward in my skill as a graphic artist.
Spice Mines: This is a site that I started working on and then found out it's scope was too large for me to handle at the time. I needed to know a lot more about php and mysql before I start on it again. Actually the plan is to learn more with this site and then step forward and work on it again. The idea behind it is a catalog database of collectable toys for anyone who is interested in completing loose figures. Eventually I want to have a login system to allow other people to add lines that aren't already represented on the site. There will hopefully be thousands of database entries so obviously this site will be very complicated to create.
AfterNET IRC Network: I was the webmaster on this IRC network. I won't go into detail about that because this is my portfolio and isn't really what I want to say here. I was in charge of this entire site including content and design. The idea behind the site was very interesting, I wanted to have some sort of mascot for the site so the obvious thing was to use the channel service bot, named X2, as the mascot. I also wanted to do something unique so I tried to make it so the site seemed like the interface was also X2's interface. So it is basically like the web site is X2, but I never got a chance to tweak the content so it was very believable because I ended up resigning the position due to being busy with school and the website was replaced with a boring canned site.
DeltaMUD: This was actually my first paying customer site that I was hired for. Deltamud is an online text based fantasy game known as a MUD where users can interact with eachother and gain levels and experience like a role playing game. I spent approximately 36 hours creating this site from conception to realization. The owner of the site wanted it to be graphically intense and completely created from scratch while at the same time fitting the storyline of the MUD. The splash screen in the beginning uses java to detect the viewers resolution and adjusts the graphics accordingly to take full advantage of screen space. There are also a lot of java rollovers for the crystal ball and menu. Too make it easier for someone to update the site pages I used server side includes so they wouldn't have to navigate through all my tables and risk botching the alignment up. Really you have to take a look at the site itself to truelly appreciate the work.
Ant Farm splash screen: This is a splash entrance for an old version of the Ant Farm I was just fooling around with a long time ago and it ended up looking really nice so I decided to keep it for my portfolio since I never did use it as an entrance or anything. It's based on a DaVinci tutorial and is mostly done in his style but is completely handmade from scratch by me. The hanging boards catch on fire and animate when you mouseover them which you can check out how I made the fire in my tutorials section if you would like to try it yourself.
Gear image: Not much to say about this one, it's an interface I was working on just playing around that I gave up on early in the process. I decided it wouldn't work well once it was cut up and put in html format and since it was just for fun anyway and not for any certain purpose I placed it on the back burner and ended up forgetting about it. I put it in this portfolio because I felt it looked pretty neat and it is definetly a change of pace from my other work. I wanted to have more of a variety of different techniques I've used.
As a lot of you may know, I am very much into saltwater aquaria. This site is one of the best places to order rare and unusual livestock that you would likely never see in your local pet shop.
